How I Think About the Therapy Process
Emotional and physical wellbeing is an issue of equity and justice. Good care, then, focuses on certain key principles: supporting a purposeful life; treating the whole person in mind and body; awareness and acceptance of present experience; recognition and management of environmental and contextual factors; and utilization of evidence-based practices. My approach to therapy is integrative, science-based, and relational in nature, drawing from a variety of therapeutic techniques to best adapt to each person’s unique experiences.
As a former aspiring actor/musician and teacher, I integrate these past experiences with my practice. I am well-versed in various aspects of geek and nerd cultures and brings these into his therapeutic relationship to help develop relationships and provide a collaborative, down-to-earth approach in his work.
Who I Work Best With
I work across the lifespan with folks from many walks of life, and have extensive experience and passion or working with LGBTQIA+ individuals including navigating barriers related to transition; historically and socially marginalized communities, neurodiversity; and a variety of health-related behaviors.
Specialty Training and Services
I earned my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Seattle after first completing a Masters of the Arts in Counseling Psychology from Bastyr University. In addition to a variety of psychotherapeutic technique, I also have specialized training and experience in providing multiple forms of biofeedback and psychological assessment.
Who I am Outside of Work
Outside of work, I am often taking pictures of the many animals in my household, thinking about playing video games (but sometimes stymied by indecision about what game), listening or making music, and thinking about exploring the world.
