How I Think About the Therapy Process

Change happens at the cellular level, and creating lasting change can take time. The human brain has an innate propensity for healing, resilience, and compensation, and the mind is just as eager to resolve discomfort. I use a neuroscience-informed counseling lens to bridge the gap between mind and brain, to humanize the struggles that come with existence. My relational style emphasizes safety, candor and warmth; my therapeutic goals aim to actively reduce distress with appropriate interventions, deepen insight, and empower individuals as they build a life that aligns with their core values.

Who I Work Best With

I work with adults (18+) of all identities. I’m bilingual in English and Urdu, and as an immigrant of 20+ years, I am well-versed in the intricacies of belonging, social justice, and equity. I collaborate well with individuals who are curious to explore their identity and life narrative as part of their wellness goals.

Specialty Training and Services

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington state, certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors, EMDR trained, and SSP/RRP certified. I received my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, and am currently working towards an MS in Applied Neuroscience. I am experienced in working with Affective and Bipolar disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Level 1 Autism.

Who I am Outside of Work

I am a perpetual student of school and life. I practice what I preach when it comes to brain health: whether it’s taking piano lessons in mid-life to enhance brain function, or diving deep into Amigurumi crochet patterns to sharpen my focus- I’m up for the challenge. I’m a mother of two wonderful humans and one fluffy Havanese, who brings as much comic relief as he adds chaos to the mix.
